Perhaps later..... perhaps

I am not one to dwell on certain things.  It is easy enough to share what we like, what pleases us, what we love and how the moon at night can shape our dreams.

And then there is that which frightens us.... seemingly defeats us, and that we tuck into corners both sharp and dangerous and we do not go there often, if at all, for it can eat us up and destroy all we love.

So I have not mentioned that what really frightens me, but as my posting gets lighter and what I write is getting pettier and simpler.....(ha...like it was that hot in the first place!)  I just thought I would explain a little.  I am losing my sight.  I have no insurance.  Later today I am going, finally, to the Doctor.  The eye Doc is a friend.  We have socialized and played golf and gone on road trips together in the past.  He will yell at me for not going sooner.  He will call me by my nickname and not James or such bullshit.  It could be worse.  I gave up driving over a year ago.... it was a sensible thing to do.  More and more people talk to me and I cannot see who they are.

The money thing with out insurance, really bothers me.  So.... it can be fixed, but I cannot afford it?

Or, it cannot be fixed.  What the Fuck........ see.....  it is always something.

I guess it will be easier to visit blogs than to write.  At present ..... I need to get my nose about two inches from the screen..... anyways... that is what is up.  I do not like it one little bit..... but as in all things in life....... no one asks me.

I am so sorry to hear this. I hope whatever is wrong can be fixed. And if it can, I am sure the readers who enjoy your blog would be glad to help out. Please keep us posted.

For sure my dear friend. Please tell us what the verdict is and we will do what we can to help out.

Oh Jim, I am sorry you are in this fix. I hope it will work out for you and that you can maintain your sight.

One keyboard fix to make the words bigger on the screen is to hit "control +" on your keyboard as many times as you need to in order to see better.

You are in my thoughts.

Jim, I can relate (to a point). About two years ago I woke up with a blind spot in the lower periphery of my right eye. One way to mimic what I currently "see" is to place your right index finger just below your right eye. I went to see a specialist who sent me to have a brain scan (looking for a tumor) but was later diagnosed with lateral ischemic optic neuropathy. So I did a Googler and came away shaken up... it often spreads to the "good" eye and leads to total blindness.
One of my older sisters is deaf, so I wrote to her that we'd make a great pair in our dotage: She could lead us around and I'd tell her what people were saying about us.
When's that braille computer monitor coming out, anyway?

Good luck, man. Hope you get good news (and by all means, find a way to finance vision if you can save yours!)

By the way, when you make your living as a photographer, little things like impending blindness tend to keep you up at night, which is handy because ischemic optic neuropathy almost always strikes during sleep.

Doze off with THAT on your pillow...

okjimm, I'm keeping a good thought for you today and will say one for you before I turn in tonight. Call it a hunch, but I suspect more can be done than you think. However, delay is not your friend.

I'm sorry to hear it too, Jimm. I hope something can be done and if a paypal donation will help, count me in.

I'd try adopting you but it took 3 years to get my husband authorized to move to Canada. Things ain't at all what they used to was.

Please, please Jim, let me know when you schedule the surgery. I want to help. It would mean so much to me to offer whatever financial support you need. Schedule the surgery. Direct your friends to a Paypal page. Please.

YOU GUYS are sooooo GOOD...quick up date. The left eye is pretty bad, Doc said it was critical to get it fixed SOON. The right needs the same surgery but his prognosis is that they should be able to bring that one back to perfect vision... which astounds me to no end. (May be possible with the left, too, but he is leaving that up to the surgeon. He is also exploring for me certain charities that can help with the expense. Great news.

Ya, I will put up a Paypal thingee, as much as I dislike to. That you all for offering. I dug out some of my boxes of old collectibles and have hit ebay again. So far the market in antique straight razors is soft. ( I collected those avidly back in more prosperous days. Anyone need a close shave?)
I will post on this again... but trying to read a computer screen from two inches away gives me a tremndous headache. Good think I am an eggclent typost, hun?

Best of luck to you Jim. Hope you'll let us know how you're doing and how we might be able to help.

I hear you and I can kick in a little to Jim to help you with this. Will wait for the PayPal link.

I too am without insurance. I took myself off of my wife's since they changed and made the deductibles so high that I might as well take those premium payments and stick them in my own savings account, using it as needed. This seems to be working out pretty well so far.

The big concern of course is falling gravely ill. I can only hope my health stays in tact well enough until I am eligible for Medicare in about 18 months.

One thing I do when I read other blogs is to use the "zoom in" feature so the font is big enough that I can see the pixilation in the letters. Well almost. :-)

Oh, Jim! I'm so optimistic for you! I'll be looking for that Paypal link. Email it to me, okay? Or send it via vintage carrier pigeon. I'm really happy that there's a viable solution. And I want to help! You're a pretty sharp tack now, but just wait till you see the world in focus! Woohoo!
