See.... I had this all set... I made the chili and I was gonna have it Cincinnati style, where you dump it over bunch of spaghetti and top it with grated cheddar cheese and onions. but I can't find the grater... and I know she was here somewhere (hey, and just saying, but all of the really cool kitchen utensils are of the feminine gender. don't ask how I know this, but it's true)
So I says to myself, "this is just great"....it being that kind of morning.
I mean I wish the sun would just shine a bit, that would be great. Or maybe the phone would ring with some good news for a change. That would be great.
Then I am thinking of all the things that would be great. But I keep it simple. Like I wish I had another jare of peanutter butter cause I just ran out and I really don't want to go to the store for another jar, not just yet, anyways, cause really the best time to buy peanutter butter is when you need jelly, too, see, both of those seem to go good together. They are Great!! Together. And then I start thinking to myself of all sorts of great things and things that are great together ( but only parenthetically)...... and I just run out of thoughts.......... and wish I had a few more.... cause that would be great.
In the early morning rain
With a dollar in my hand
With an achin' in my heart
And my pockets full of sand
I'm a long way from home
And I miss my loved ones so
In the early morning rain
With no place to go

We just had Cincinnati chili the other evening. My dirty little secret is that I have two graters. One to use and the other to lose. It happens more often than I care to consider.
Things that go great together? Today I'd have to say the classic - peanut butter and chocolate. I'm still on the Reese's Peanut Butter Egg diet.
xoxo - glad to see you still have your sense of humor considering the fact that things are crazy there. Not crazy like here, which is normally crazy, but crazy all the same.
You're the gratest!
Lisa... I have at least TWO that I can't find!!!!! you can never have too much peanut butter and chocolate!
Lee.... I have been told that I rub some folks the wrong way;)
I use my grater so often I could never lose it. I have a single side one that I keep very close at hand, like it better than the box. Other things that go together? vodka and tonic?
vodka & tonic!!! Lips that touch white liquor shall never touch mine!! ( like, that shouldn't be a problem)
Its actually a good Southern thing but shrimp and grits go together.
What was great for me growing up and which still is: peanut butter sandwiches with mayo and raisens. I can hear the ewwws right now but they're really good. I have several graters too, including my grandmoms flat one that must be over a hundred years old by now.
I've read your delightful comments all over the place and would like to put you on my blog roll. How's that for a great idea?
Dear Bum....Shrimp&Grits??? sounds like a comedy team! Only had grits once. I tried grilling them.... didn't work out so well.
TN... gosh, shucks& stuff... you make me blush! Well, ya'll go ahead... cause I added you, too.
Now raisins and peanut butter is fine, but, aw, hold the Mayo.1 ;)
Tuna salad and jalapenos. They make a great sandwich!
Peanut butter and:
a. dill pickles - again, a good sandwich
b. hamburger - had PB on a burger in San Diego some years ago. Turned my nose up at the thought but let my wife talk me into it. It was awesome
c. cheese - yep, sharp cheddar
There have been a number of kitchen and other things still unfound after a 4000 mile move but my grater was not among the lost.
Things that go great together? Does caring and sharing count?
Having been on a work hiatus for a while I believe I still have some food bank PB. Wait don't turn your nose up yet it's actually one of those yuppie brands and fresh too.
Death and destruction seems to be the order of the day. Sorry Susan to spoil your happy thought.
Jim, here a a few things that go great together...cheese and smoked ham on a crusty baguette washed down with an ice cold beer whilst sat in the sun reading a great book. Simple yet ever so effective. I hope you find your old grater!
Have a great Sunday, dude.
Chef... I draw the line on peanut butter and pickles....ah, just doesn't seem kosher....now peanut butter and a burger seem verrrrry interesting. So does jalapeno and tuna.
Susan... Share &Care always go well together.... especially when you share beer...
Demeur....PB, ANY PB is good. Death&Destruction??? isn't that one of the Rock Bands Randal listens to??
ooooh.... DAVID Ham& cheese, with some horseradish....double yumm... and cold beer goes with everything.... except maybe peanut butter.
Well.... folks, time for my favorite breakfast... oatmeal and Sardines!!!!!!!! hehehe.... just don't try to grate the sardines..or the oatmeal, for that matter.
There's more than one of us'n that grew up with lard and sugar sandwiches. At midnight Christmas Eve it was traditional to serve raw ground beef with raw onions. Some might say I had an unfortunate upbringing. When my step-Dad made "thin sauce" from wild Minnesota blueberries over pancakes with his homemade polish sausage, I knew otherwise.
Gravillo....//raw ground beef with raw onions.// Oh, yeah, I remember that!
I remember Corn Syrup sandwiches. My grandmother thought they were a great treat for us.
