It is good that he is gone........

"If this means that there is one less death in the future, then I am glad for that but, I just can't find it in me to be glad one more person is dead, even if it is Osama bin Laden."

Harry Waizer, World Trade Tower Survivor , from the NYT

thank you Harry

Thank you Jim.

I would've been OK with bin Laden being locked up for life if that had been an option. But it wasn't. He wanted to die a martyr.

It were done quickly."

Macbeth, Act 1

the less fanfare, the better. Let him blow away from our consciousness like fading desert sands. His impact was great, his contribution to humanity nonexistent.

Harry Waizer is a better person than i am, because i'm glad bin laden is dead. i only wish he had suffered more. i hope his last moments were filled with abject terror. i don't like to wish people dead, but if i had been alive when hitler died, i would have danced on his grave, too (if the coward had actually had one). there are some people who don't deserve to live. they have no respect for human life, so why have any respect for them? am i stooping to their level? i don't think so, because they killed innocents, and they did it on purpose.

Lock him up and make him watch C-Span forever. Now that's punishment.

nonnie.... there was just this element of celebration...that didn't set correct.... I have been anti-war for so long... that I just can't .... well... I really hope this is a springboard toward peace... and if ever again a action is needed against a individual like like Osama that it will be executed like this one... swift, correct and impelled with a sense of saving as many lives as possible. Bush wielded a sledge hammer and spread havoc. Obama used a scalpel as a surgeon would.

Randal.... hey, c'mon... C-Span really works for insomnia!

I wonder how many refrained from celebrating at the news of Hitler's death, even if it was by suicide. I have to be honest and say I'm delighted that this tyrant is dead as well. Will it bring peace? Not in our lifetime but there's always hope.

TN.... not arguing... but I remember clips of hauling American dead around in Somalia, the hostages being trucked around before cameras in Iran...... I am glad the guy is gone..... I just want us to take the 'high road'.... and you are right.. there is always hope.
