In just a few days it will be legal for any citizen of Wisconsin to carry concealed gum. Provided they have the proper training. Providing they have a special permit for 'sugar-free' varieties. Carrying concealed gum in a bar while drunk will be specifically prohibited. Concealing gum under chairs, desks, bar rails will still be..... oh shit,,,,, just plain ran outa humor here.
Ok. I am a strong supporter of gun control. I am also a strong supporter of the right to own guns.
I do not think that those views are incompatible. I have never owned a gun.... because I don't hunt. I don't hunt because I have no taste for cutting heads off things, pulling guts out, ripping off skins... etc. But I support hunting. I really do. And I support the right of hunter's to own guns.
Most of the hunters that I know are strong conservationists, care for habitat, are against polluting environment, support preservation of species.... and don't go banging around in the woods. They are very 'gun safety' conscious. Of course, then there are the few others.
Now, I am not... not... not... going to go into a big discussion on my views on gun control... and to be honest.... I do not carry gum either, but, and here is what really gets me..... passing this new law created NO NEW jobs... did not help the economy....and will not improve the quality of life for anyone. So why was it needed??? Still beats the hell outa me. Ok.... the bill also has a clause....
“A business owner or person in his or her own home may prohibit a licensee from carrying a concealed weapon into the business or home, an employer generally may prohibit an employee from carrying a concealed weapon in the course of the employee's employment, and the state or a local governmental unit may prohibit a licensee from carrying a firearm into a building that is owned, occupied, or controlled by the state or the local governmental unit.”
Drinking while carrying a gun is also illegal. It is a misdemeanor. Anywayz.... here's what I am going to do.... next month, wherever I go, wherever I shop... I will be looking for signs like this...
or this....
and if I do not see one... I will ask the manager why one is not posted. See, I do not want to get accidentally shot over a dispute about the last box of corn flakes, or the especially fuckingly cheaply priced TV... or whether or not I looked at someone's girlfriend 'funny'. If I do not see that sign... I will not shop there and will make my view known to ownership. Might not do any good, but so what.
Hey, and it's a well known fact.... Jesus didn't carry a gun.
just saying.

Nothing beats the state of Ohio and Gov. John Kasich signing a law allowing residents to carry a loaded and into bars.
I mean, what says America more than a loaded pistol and liquid courage on a Saturday night?
ya, you said it. Thankfully there was also a proviso in the bill that prevents handguns of the same caliber from marrying.
no gay guns.... it wouldn't be Christianese.
In a past life, I walked into the Cottonwood,AZ medical facility for an x-ray. A sign in 4' high letters on the front door said no guns allowed. What I didn't know was that just walking through the door would cost me $500(facility charge)in addition to the the x-ray. In a state where "Tex" packs a pistol on his hip serving coffee at Sedona Coffee roasters, the hospital administrators were hip to getting popped for over charging patients.
True about AZ.
Back in the days when Arizona was a sane place to visit, we would stay at the Biltmore in Phoenix in for a few days to get warm and escape the cold.
All the supermarkets have signs at the doors that read "No Guns Allowed."
Great post! Love the pics.
"passing this new law . . . (would) not improve the quality of life for anyone."
Unfortunately, that's not the case. There are people so enamored of their guns and so paranoid or in need of constant reassurance about their . . . "potency," to put it delicately, that they must have at least one gun with them at all times.
Face it, past a certain age pacifiers and security blankets don't cut it any more, and there are arrested-development cases who fixate on other things. For many, it's a cell phone that takes pictures, displays TV shows, radio programs, games, does database management, etc. For a few, it's toting a Glock that can . . . Well, let's not go into that.
There's probably some warped form of justice in the fact we have one political party not only willing, but extremely anxious, to take gun nuts' money and votes, and in return provide them laws like this one.
Christopher, G'rillo, Jayna... spot on....
SW...all good points. And I agree. But I want to reiterate that I am not in favor of banning guns...hunters, antique firearm collectors.. I know several and non are rabid gun nuts... I just feel there are some variety of firearms that no non=military/law enforcement citizen has a need or a basic right to own. It is called gun control. Currently all 50 states have rules on what weapons can be used for hunting, what ammunition can be used.... and when. That IS gun control. I do not see and will not concede that there is any reason that anyone outside of aforementioned personnel have need to carry a concealed weapon.
So... iffen anyone wants to come here and argue, and no one has, don'
t bother. I will not respond
No jobs? Not true. Not true.Somebody's gotta make the signs...3 people I figure. You are so negatory Jimmy. Geesh. You'd think you were a Democrat or somethin.
any man who feels the need to own more than 4 or 5 guns should be required by law to have the length of his penis marked on each firearm. i bet he'd either be too embarrassed to buy more than the designated number of firearms, but if he did, he'd be too embarrassed to actually take one of them out in public.
same thing for middle-aged men who suddenly decide they need to buy a big noisy muscle car. the tailpipe can be no longer and no more rigid than his weewee gets without the aid of viagra or other e.d. pills.
